     Berthe Morisot painted this scene at one of the happiest moments of her life; it depicts her husband Eugene Manet (the brother of Edouard) and their young child Julie. Done with fantasy colouring, this work radiates with joy and tenderness.

     The difficulty in reproducing this work is in the dashing brush-strokes, wet-in-wet or wet-over-dry, but that needed to be applied with the same speed as Morisot's strokes in order to succeed. Morisot's speed, and also the fact that she left her paintings in a state that appears unfinished, makes the aspect of her originals always a particularly exciting challenge to try to reproduce.

     This is one of the key works in her career, for it wonderfully displays her  unique technique to it's best as well as the entire and beautiful colour- palette for which she was so well-known.

   Berthe Morisot peignit cette scène des jours heureux dans son jardin de Bougival. Son époux Eugène - le frère d’Edouard   Manet - tient compagnie à leur fille Julie  : l’œuvre pleine de couleurs respire la joie et la tendresse.

     La difficulté de cette reproduction réside dans la spontanéité des coups de brosse de Berthe Morisot, laquelle dut être retrouvée afin de rendre fidèlement la fraîcheur du tableau. Cette rapidité d’exécution de Morisot, et aussi le fait qu’elle laissait ses œuvres dans un état d’apparent inachèvement, ne manque pas de rendre aventureuse toute tentative de reproduction de ses œuvres.

     Celle-ci est une œuvre-clé en ce qu’elle restitue merveilleusement la technique si personnelle et la palette subtile qui firent la renommée de Berthe Morisot.
